Description
The word Tajweed linguistically means “doing something well”. It comes from the same root letters as the word ‘Jayyid’ in Arabic (meaning “good”): Jeem, Waw and Daal. The Quran was revealed with Tajweed, because the angel Jibreel (as) recited the words of Allah (swt) to the Prophet Muhammad (saw) in a certain way and the Prophet (saw) recited it in the manner it was permissible to recite the Quran.
Tajweed course teaches a muslim the right way of pronouncing Quran words in the way they are supposed to be recited, which consequently assists in getting the best effect from the recitation. It is designed for learning how to pronounce the letters in the words correctly such as when a consonant letter is silent or not.
Tajweed are the rules of learning how to recite the Quran. It is the rightful articulation of the words of Quran. The Holy Quran is comprised of sounds that need to be articulated in a proper manner. Muslims must be knowing the right articulation of Quran verses however, their articulation is governed by learning Tajweed
Why is it necessary to learn Tajweed?
If a person is not aware of the attributes of each letter of the Quran, there is a possibility that the reciter of the Quran will change the meaning of the words in the Quran. We must strive to give every letter of the Quran its rights and dues, by observing the essential characteristics of each letter of the Quran. The result of doing this would be that you will learn to recite the holy Quran in the manner in which the Prophet (saw) recited.
